This unique adjustable ball mount from Gen-Y Hitch has a vertical shank that is made up of 5 stacked 2" receivers that can accept almost any hitch-mounted accessory. This lets you easily adjust the height of the included ball mount, or any other accessory you choose to use. This mount also has built-in shock absorption to ensure a safe, smooth towing experience. Using technology similar to that found in torsion trailer axles, the Gen-Y mount absorbs road shock, isolating any rough jarring or chucking at the connection point. This prevents the rough motion from transferring from the vehicle to the trailer and vice versa.

Built-In Shock Absorption for a Smooth Ride

Driving over bumps, potholes, and uneven terrain causes road shock, which can result in a rough, bumpy ride and even potentially damage your vehicle or trailer. This Gen-Y Hitch torsion mount is designed to absorb road shock at the connection point to create a safe, smooth ride. This is thanks to the internal construction of the mount, which is similar to that of a torsion axle.

torsion w/cutaway

Pivot points are built into the Gen-Y mount. This allows for movement between the base, which slides into your vehicle's trailer hitch, and the stacked receivers, which provide the connection point for your trailer. When your trailer hits a bump, the stacked receiver portion of the mount will move up or down accordingly.

torsion diagram

Built into the Gen-Y mount are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. As the receivers rise or fall, these inner bars twist inside of the tubes, attempting to follow the receivers' motion. But the rubber cords prevent the bars from twisting too far. And as each bar turns, these cords compress to absorb the shock. This means that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer, and the shock experienced by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck.

This type of shock-absorption system is easy to maintain. Just regularly apply grease to the built-in zerk to keep the components in working condition. No airbags to fill. No small parts to repair or replace. No hassle.

Multiple Stacked Receivers for Easy Adjustment

stacked receivers

This unique mount from Gen-Y Hitch includes a ball mount that can be easily positioned in one of the 5 stacked receivers that sits along the vertical shank of the unit. This dual-ball mount lets you tow a trailer with a 2" ball coupler or a 2-5/16" ball coupler.

pintle hitch

Also included is a pintle lock, which can be inserted into the receiver directly above the ball mount to create a pintle hitch for hooking up a trailer with a lunette ring. Unlike other adjustable pintle hooks on the market, there are no nuts and bolts to remove and retorque when you change the positioning of this hitch. Just move the ball mount and pintle lock up or down to get the proper height and secure them in place with the included pins.

With the 5 stacked receivers, not only do you have the ability to adjust the height of the included ball mount, but you also have the ability to add various other hitch-mounted accessories. Insert a bike rack or cargo carrier. Mount a spare tire carrier. Use a tow bar to flat tow your vehicle. Or just add a fun hitch cover.

Stabilizers Eliminate Wobble and Help Balance Your Load

stabilizers installed

Because this mount has such a significant drop, a stabilizer kit is included to prevent any wobble and to keep the mount stable and sturdy as you tow. Simply bolt or weld the brackets onto your truck's frame, and connect the stabilizer bars to the back of the Gen-Y mount. The stabilizer bars can easily be adjusted to span the distance between your vehicle's frame and the Gen-Y ball mount.

If you remove the mount from your hitch, the stabilizer bars can be disconnected from the brackets using the included pins and clips so that you can remove the bars from your vehicle as well.

Note: Because of how the stabilizers install on the ball mount, this mount should only be used in the drop position.

Easily Check Your Tongue Weight

scale

This mount features a built-in mechanical tongue weight scale. The red section on the top of the scale indicates your maximum tongue weight (1,700 lbs). The red section on the bottom of the scale indicates no tongue weight (0 lbs). A tongue weight of at least 1,200 lbs is recommended for the built-in shock absorption to function effectively. This means that the scale's white indicator marker should be in the green section when you hook up your trailer to tow.

Video Transcript for Review of Gen-Y Hitch Trailer Hitch Ball Mount - Torsion 2 Ball With Stacked Receivers - 325-GH-1425

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Gen Y Torsion 2 Ball Mount with Stacked Receivers. Now this shock absorbing adjustable ball mount is going to slide into your two inch trailer hitch receiver and give you five stacked two inch receivers. So you can hook up your trailer to tow your vehicle with the included two inch ball or the included two and 5/16 inch ball. And of course this is a a combo ball unit that you see here or you can tow a trailer that has a lunette ring on it using the two and 5/16 inch hitch ball paired with this included pintle lock.

and when you don't need this pintle lock, this lock can easily slide into one of the receivers here and be completely out of your way. And you can use that two and 5/16 inch ball with a typical coupler with the pintle lock moved out of the way. So these five stacked two inch receivers are going to let you easily adjust the height of the included ball mount or any other accessory that you choose to use. So you can tow trailers of different heights with the same vehicle, always making sure that you have a level trailer behind your vehicle. And also included are these two 5/8 of an inch in diameter pins and clips to hold your ball mount and your pintle lock in place.

So it's going to be as simple as pulling out the pin and the clips and then moving that ball where you need it to be. Now on the two inch hitch ball, this has a gross towing weight capacity of 12,000 pounds, maximum tongue weight of 1500 pounds. On the two and 5/16 inch hitch ball, it has a gross towing weight capacity of 16,000 pounds with a maximum tongue weight of 1700 pounds. The optimal ride tongue weight when used with the two and 5/16 inch hitch ball is 1200 pounds to 1700 pounds. And the reason that you are given that range is because of the torsion functionality that's going to help absorb your shock.

So you want to make sure that you're within that right range so it's going to do a great job of absorbing that shock. Now the shock absorbing design functions is very similar to a torsion axle. Built into the Gen Y mount are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. And let me just put this example here of a cutaway here just to show you what's going on inside there. So here are bars surrounded by these rubber cords and as the receiver rise and falls, these inner bars are going to twist inside of the tubes attempting to follow the motion of the vertical shank.

But the rubber cords are going to prevent the bars from twisting too far. And as each bar turns, these cords are going to compress to absorb the shock. So this means that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer and the shock experience by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck. Now this type of shock absorbing system is very easy to maintain. You just regularly apply grease to the built-in zerks to keep the components in working conditions. You might be able to see this zerk right here at the top. And we have another one here at the bottom. So this isn't like airbags where you gotta make sure the air is properly adjusted and you don't have a whole lot of moving parts here. So basically this is going to be a set it and forget it type of thing which is very convenient, no hassle at all. Now this is going to give you a maximum drop of 15 inches. And because that is such a significant drop, this includes this stabilizer kit as you see right here. And this is going to help prevent any wobbling, making sure that the mount is stable and sturdy as you tow. And this is going to be a very simple bolt on or weld on application. So you can just mount these brackets that you see here onto the frame of your truck and then that's going to allow you to connect the stabilizer bars to the mounts there, to those brackets. And then these can be easily removed. These stabilizer bars can be easily removed from the brackets, just pulling the pin and clips there. And of course those brackets are going to stay attached to your truck. And then this can also be removed here from this unit using this pin and clip here as well. So if you ever need to remove this from the back of your truck, these stabilizer bars are going to be very easy, very convenient to remove. So this is a really a great feature that this provides. Now these stabilizer bars can be adjusted from 24 inches all the way up to 33 inches to span the distance between the frame of your truck and to the ball mount. And because this has a major significant drop that maximum drop of 15 inches, you're not going to be able to flip this over and use it in the rise position. By the way, these rods are included to insert into the stabilizer bars here to adjust it to that length in between 24 inches and 33 inches, whatever's going to work best for you. Now this does have a built-in pin weight scale. So I want to zoom in over top here just to give you a brief view of that. This is going to help you make sure that your trailer is, trailer weight rather is balanced properly. The white mark that you see there is going to line up in the green portion of this sticker when it's properly balanced so you're not exceeding your tongue weight or you don't have enough tongue weight. It's on the red because obviously we don't have any weight on there. So having that tongue weight scale built in is just another convenient thing to give you a reference point to make sure that your trailer is loaded properly. This does have 5/8 of an inch in diameter pin holes. Right here at our shank, you have two of those 5/8 of an inch in diameter hitch pin holes. I do want to point out that a hitch pin and clip are not included. You probably already have one for your hitch, but if not, we do have several options available here at etrailer.com. We also have locking pins that could be purchased to secure your investment. And this is an investment that you're making so it's going to be a a great idea to consider a locking pins to make sure that someone just can't come by and remove this off the back of your truck, so a great way to protect your investment. This is made here in the USA of a heavy duty steel construction with a zinc primer and epoxy powder coat to resist rust and corrosion. Gen Y has a great reputation for building very solid, very robust products. This weighs about 130 pounds. I needed help to get it on my table here. So this is going to be a very well built, very heavy duty just like other gen Y products and you can proceed with confidence knowing that this is going to last you quite some time. So really, overall a great investment that you're making here. This is SAEJ684 certified and that's going to conclude our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

The order process was smooth. But, when trying to find out about the the lifetime warranty offered by Gen Y on the rubber components in the hitch Nicole could not answer my question.

I asked if I was able to purchase through you and if not could I purchase from Gen Y even though I bought the hitch from you.

This is something customer service should know the answer too.
You would have gotten five stars but it was ruined by lack of knowledge by your staff.

by:

anyways thus far it's a #5 I haven't really used it but I will sooner than later. Your hitch is on this bad boy!! Thank you for considering my 2020 Ford Velocity Blue F350 Lariat Special addition!!!

by:

Awesome hitch, the tongue weight scale is the cheesiest thing I've ever seen on a product with this price point- a sticker that was peeling up when I received it and a little white paint mark that wiped away when I used an alcohol wipe to clean it before covering with super glue to try and make it hold up past the first rain event. Come on Gen Y your engineers can surely come up with something better that will actually last for years. You got the hitch down, now just focus on the details.

First impression massive, heavy Built Stout. My truck is always hooked to a trailer so I figured I would try a nicer set up I was using the B&W which is great for the average Joe that just needs to pull a trailer every now and then but this is a whole new world first trailer I pulled with It I could feel the difference right away it was smoother the vibrations and harsh thump feelings that I would normally get when pulling the trailers when I hit rough roads or bumps was not as bad or gone. It definitely made a huge difference super easy to move height if needed and an added bonus I didn’t think of is that it pushes the trailer back further so you can get a little tighter turning when backing up if needed and i can open the tailgate and it won’t hit the jack on the trailer. On top of that when people see it it’s a conversation starter There are not many of these out there so they are intrigued by the size and how it works. Bottom line in my opinion if you’re towing all the time it is worth the investment. I would invest in another.

by:

It is a strong hitch. If you leave it in your receiver plan on it rusting even with the coating that it has on it. The coating on the ball with most cases need to be scraped off before your hitch will even fit over it so that will rust right away as they normally do. Was hoping the rest of it would look a little better after one year.

by:

Solid 6” drop hitch that is extremely heavy but well made. Very smooth with bigger loads. Required some modification to my Fab Four bumper for proper fit. I gave it four stars because my hitch didn’t have the set screw option as advertised.

03 Duramax 2500hd with six inch lift, 35” tires
16000lb Curtis receiver (well made five stars)

by:

Would definitely order parts from your company again...thank you

by:

Built like a brick s@%thouse. Works great! Keep in mind I use this for pulling same trailer loaded same way every day. I could figure out optimal hitch weight and keep it there

by:

Worth the money if you are pulling heavy loads.fit and finish it top quality.

by:

Quality product. Very Robust. I bought this hoping to dampen some of the shock my truck, which is about 15,000 lbs, transmits to my boat, which is about 8500 lbs, thinking it may help with the boat's longevity. It helps with big shocks for sure, but the hitch needs to be in the top 2/3rds of its rated capacity to noticeably dampen the shock between your trailer and tow rig. It works wonders on my loaded dump trailer.

by:

This thing is built like a tank. I have towed a few items that have been reasonably heavy (although not at 21,000lbs). I can say that it does a good job at limiting the aftershock of terrible roads that I have been on. It does a good job and is easily versatile to use with the adjustments available. The hitch should endure travels towing for quite a long time considering how well it is built.

by:

Best hitch ever... performs above and beyond as advertised. Will never use straight or drop hitch again. We pull our bobcat up the 4wd drive beaches of North Carolina which are often bumpy. This hitch separated the trailer movement from the truck. Well worth the money. Do it once and never do it again!

by:

Very nice, well built hitch, but the torsion part of it only works well when towing near the upper load limit of the hitch. Buy the same hitch without the torsion if you are not going to be pulling heavy loads near hitch capacity. You'll save lots!

by:

My brother and my son recommended this to me. I got to ride along with my son as he hauled a 10,000 lb. camper. Wow! I couldn’t believe the difference it made in the ride! The ride was so much smoother not to mention the wear and tear it saves on the tow vehicle! I’m impressed with the service from etrailer also. The package arrived in great condition, everything was there, and it even came a day earlier than expected! I highly recommend them!!!

by:

Great product
Takes away the jerking
sensations of speed bumps and the occasional pothole.
When you do hit a bump at speed it takes a while for the flexing to settle back into a smooth ride. I equate the feeling like being in a boat. Now that I’m used to it it’s hardly noticeable.

by:

Great hitch. Just makes my safety chains to short.

by:

I received my torsion hitch as promised from etrailer. The hitch is built with quality
And very simple to install. I will be using it for the first time in a coupe of days.

by:

Great service. I made a mistake and ordered the wrong item. I was bummed there was a restocking fee but it was my mistake so I cant be to mad. They were very responsive on correcting the order. Hitch definitely seems super well built.

by:

Excellent Quality, better driving while you with trailer and Made in USA.
I love it
Thanks to the company

by:

works great, heavy duty, good investment

by:

Haven't installed it yet, but this things a beast. For the manufacturer, you should put a couple of heavy stickers on it for the delivery guys, lol. Looks well built and can't wait to see how it acts with my camper.

by:

EASY AND SIMPLE PURCHASE THIS HITCH IS BADASS VERY STRONGLY BUILT

by:

Seems to be an impressive product. But even more impressed with the purchase experience. Great price, great freight policy, it was packed protectively and arrived way ahead of schedule. I’ll be looking for more products to buy from this etrailer.

by:

Solid product! etrailer sent this heavy item very quickly and I will look to do business with them again.

  • What is Max Drop of Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount and Can be Used with Weight Distribution
I'm not totally sure what your first question is but I believe you are asking what the maximum drop of this system is. The max drop figure for the Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers # 325-GH-1425 is 15 inches. This is not designed to be used with weight distribution though as it does not have a way to attach a head, but we do have the WD style shanks from them like the part # 325-GH-1102 for a 2-1/2 inch hitch or # 325-GH-1202 for a 2 inch hitch that you could use with standard...
